Project overview
Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi are the premier indigenous learning facility in the world. Their audience needed an authentic indigenous experience that was intuitive and informative, guiding them on their pathway of personal and cultural growth. We created a user experience that met and exceeded the needs of their ideal audience, helping to grow their reach and increase enrolment.
Process
A great user experience can only be gained through a deep understanding of the audience needs. We did extensive empathy research with all different levels of the organisation, gaining insight that enabled us to not only hit the mark, but exceed expectations. Strong insights allowed us to create personas, user journey maps and in turn, a robust design system. Images and video built user engagement inside a carefully considered journey.

A component level design system enabled a seamless thread for the user to follow. Each navigation option is colour coded. The colour for each option continues through the layers of information.

The indigenous approach is to tell your unique story when greeting for the first time. We understood the significance of this and created a platform for storytelling that was able to show the past, present and future.

Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi exists for purpose beyond profit. They wanted to grow their audience by offering a sense of their warmth and dedication toward empowering people through knowledge. We were honoured to help them do this and in turn, grow indigenous acedamia.
