Project overview
Envirohub are an environmental organisation who are helping to educate and facilitate people on a greener approach to living in the bay. The typical approach of green education is to scare people with the stats on our struggling planet. Envirohub wanted a way to help people take small steps toward being green through an engaging app experience.
Process
We kicked off the project with a series of workshops, ideating and getting all ideas on the table. This was invaluable when we later developed the ideas as we were able to test early. We knew we needed something fun and engaging. We started the doing process with branding, creating a strong design system. For the wireframes and early concepts, we worked closely with app developers to ensure they would be able to deliver an experience beyond expectations. With strong brand and design foundations, development was efficient and effective!

The Green Team was something new. With such a broad audience, we focused on making sure it was: Inclusive, fun and worthy of picking up and having a go.

We conducted empathy research and held workshops with the Envirohub team to draw out the need and ideal audience. We realised that treading lightly meant changing everyday patterns. So we gamified being green with monthly challenges.

After launching the Green Team app, there were a number of requests from councils to create some directories so people could find where to recycle and re-use.

We helped Envirohub with strategy, presenting concepts to councils and successfully securing funding for the development of the directories and showcasing it's value.
